United Parcel Service Inc. UPS, -0.96% reported Thursday third-quarter net income of $1.26 billion, or $1.45 a share, compared with $1.27 billion, or $1.44 a share, in the same period a year ago.
The FactSet consensus for earnings per share was $1.45. Revenue rose 7% to $15.98 billion, beating the FactSet consensus of $15.63 billion, as an 11% rise in international package and 13% growth in supply chain and freight revenue beat expectations, while a 3.9% increase in domestic package revenue was a bit shy of forecasts.
The package delivery giant said natural disasters reduced profits from its domestic segment by about $50 million. UPS raised its 2017 adjusted EPS guidance range to $5.85 to $6.10 from $5.80 to $6.10.

The stock edged up 0.2% in premarket trade. It has edged up 3.4% year to date through Wednesday, while the Dow Jones Transportation Average DJT, -1.62% has gained 8.3% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.48% had climbed.
