Accra based airline, African World Airlines (AWA) has commenced 5 times weekly flight to Nigeria\u2019s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from Accra, Ghana.<\/p>\n
This is a promise kept by the airline, when the Chief Executive Officer, Captain \u00a0Samuel Thompson said in February 2017 while taking delivery of \u00a0one Embraer 145 to increase its fleet to Five. \u201cThe operations to Abuja from Accra will commence after the rehabilitation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport runway by the Federal Government.\u201d<\/p>\n
Also, Togbe Afede, the President and founder of Africa World Airlines acknowledged how important Nigerian market is to the airline, which necessitated the network expansion into Abuja.<\/p>\n
According to Abuja Airport Manager, Mallam Mahmud Sani, \u201cthe inaugural flight of African World Airlines from Accra arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at about 12.15hrs. It departed to Accra at about 14.30hrs. The airline will be operating 5 times a week.\u201d<\/p>\n
AWA currently operates four times daily flights to Lagos.<\/p>\n
Africa World Airlines was incorporated on November 15, 2010 and received its Air Carrier Licence (ACL) from Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in March 2011.<\/p>\n
The principal founder\/promoter of the Company is Togbe Afede XIV, the Chief of Asogli State and CEO of SAS Finance Group.\u00a0 Shareholders include SAS Finance Group (Ghana), SSNIT (Ghana), HNA Aviation Holding in (China) and China-Africa Development Fund (China).<\/p>\n
The airline has recently taken delivery 3 (three) new and modern ERJ 145LR jets to commence its domestic and regional operations. The route network is structured to create a hub-and-spoke model centered upon Accra. This will allow a seamless one-change connection between multiple city pairs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
