Train collides with wagon in London

A passenger train has collided with a wagon near London Waterloo, bringing further travel misery to commuters already affected by major improvement works.

Pictures show the South West Trains service leaning against the wagon and resting at an angle on the tracks, as men in hi-vis uniforms stood close by.

“Major disruption” between Waterloo and Vauxhall is now expected until the end of the day – with the train operator urging commuters not to travel into the capital.

Three people were checked over at the scene by medics after the “low-speed partial derailment”, but none of them required hospital treatment.

The collision happened shortly after the train departed Waterloo at 5.40am on Tuesday – blocking one of the five railway lines out of the station.
