Red Star Express – 25 Years Of Delivering Peace Of Mind…2

Activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Red Star Express Plc kicked off in grand style at the Head Office on July 11, 2017 when the GMD, Sola Obabori unveiled the fabricated 3D version of the above 25th-anniversary logo.

Since October 1992 when the name, Red Star Express, became synonymous with courier services in Nigeria, the company has made giant strides in the logistics and supply-chain sector and its impact felt inside and out the country. In this article, our correspondent Tola Ojobo takes a look at the company’s five-fold services that have won it many local and international services awards.


Winning with Superior Services

Red Star Express Plc, the licensee of FedEx Express began operations on October 12, 1992. It provides a portfolio of full logistics solutions, including International and domestic express delivery, freight forwarding, integrated logistics solutions, information and document management solutions, warehousing and e-commerce solutions.

In the wake of the company’s listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2007, it increased its service arms to three and later five subsidiary service companies from which it provides a lot of value-added services to the diverse customer base it has continued to expand. The services of the subsidiaries are x-rayed below.

Red Star Express

The Express subsidiary provides global logistics solutions to solve shipping challenges and connect with customers to reach new markets. RSE delivers documents and parcels delivery to 220 countries through the FedEx Express global network and over 1500 communities across Nigeria through its local network.

The value-added service enjoyed by the public include door-to-door, time-sensitive logistics solutions. RSE partners with businesses, large, medium and small-scale to provide and offer convenient and effective logistics solutions.

Red Star Freight

The Freight arm of Red Star Express commenced operations in November 2005 with competencies in Air freight of bulk cargo, heavyweight consignments, packing and removal of personal effects, import and export, container handling, clearing and forwarding of cargo (Sea and Air), and Door-to-Door service (Sea and Air), to various local and international offices, depots of its customers.

Red Star Freight is a member of International Freight Logistics Network (IFNL), which gives it access to over 160 countries and expertise of over 180,000 professional freighters across the globe. It set out to become the preferred freight forwarding company in Nigeria with strong global alliances and now effectively facilitate the movement of goods and rendering quality logistics solutions to its customers.

Red Star Logistics

This subsidiary began in March 2008 as the preferred logistics service provider in Nigeria driven by a team of passionate professionals connecting businesses, markets and people.

Red Star Logistics specializes in convenient and economic ground haulage delivery service, using trucks and vans. The service consists of haulage of domestic heavyweight cargo, trucking cargo, cargo consolidation, ancillary services as well as warehousing.

The subsidiary company is seen by their customers as a dependable partner that relieve them of their burdens of complex day-to-day logistics challenges while providing cost-effective or tailor-made solutions for their supply-chain.

Red Star Freight’s end to end supply-chain and logistics solutions effectively manage the transfer of products, information and funds between customers and their 3rd party suppliers, thus allowing them to focus on reaching the full potential of their businesses.

Red Star Support Services

This is the outsourcing arm of Red Star Express Plc, providing human capital and facilities to the banking, oil and gas and multinational institutions. The premier product of Red Star Support Services is Mail Management, which is the provision of manpower and material resources to the running of the day-to-day operations of the organizations it serves.

Other value-added services offered include: Executive and Pool Drivers Service, Dedicated Dispatch Services, Dedicated Shuttle Service, Fleet Management, Janitorial and Cleaning Service and Third-Party Recruitment Service.
