American Airlines Cargo records strong 2017 growth

With the past year’s results rolling in, American Airlines posted particularly strong results for its cargo sector, with overall cargo traffic growth reported 15 percent higher year-over-year compared to 2016 – substantially higher than the 9.7 percent growth reported by IATA for 2017.

The carrier attributed the healthy y-o-y improvement to several customer-service efforts it launched, including a year-long process to streamline the customer experience with the addition of new self-service tools to automate the booking process.

The carrier also noted the addition of new services, including proactive shipment re-accommodation, which provides customers online re-booking options when their flight is delayed or canceled.

American Airlines Cargo also undertook initiatives for increasing its pharmaceutical transport capabilities and reducing its impact on the environment, despite the addition of new routes and destinations for the carrier’s wide-body fleet.
