Tyre Sellers Association set to unveil Africa tyre village in Lagos

  • The association is the umbrella body of more than 2,500 major tyre sellers in Nigeria.
  • Importers and manufacturers of tyres and other automobile products, transport firms, commercial bus and cab operators, etc. showcase their products at the exhibition.

Lagos – The Association of Nigeria Tyre Marketers says it will unveil its multi-billion naira tyre edifice, known as the Africa Tyre Village, next month.

According to the association, it has set aside April 25th and 26th to mark the opening of the market located within the Lagos International Trade Fair complex along Badagry Expressway.

The ANTM President, Alhaji Issa Mohammed, said the Lagos Tyre Conference would also be held on the first day of the inauguration, while the second day would be the official opening of the tyre village with award presentations to notable individuals and organisations for their contributions to the safety, security and quality motoring on the country’s highways.

He said, “We are unveiling this market on the 25th and 26th April as the centre for quality tyres in Africa and Nigeria in particular. This occasion will provide the long-awaited opportunity for all the stakeholders of the nation’s roads and motoring industry to come together and discuss the way forward in the fight against substandard tyre products.”

According to Mohammed, the association is the umbrella body of more than 2,500 tyre marketers formerly operating at the Enu-Owa area of Idmota on Lagos Island.

He stated that the need to comply with Lagos State Government’s ‘No street trading’ directive and free members from the hazardous and unfriendly conditions at Enu-Owa made the union to build and relocate activities to the new centre.

The Vice President of ANTM, Okechukwu Ezeifeoma, said importers and manufacturers of tyres and other automobile products, transport firms, commercial bus and cab operators, banks and other corporate organisations would showcase their products at the exhibition.
