Egypt Air prepares to make a significant aircraft order
Cairo – Egyptian Prime Minister Shereif Ismail met with Minister of Aviation Shereif Fathy on Saturday to discuss plans to modernize Egypt’s airports and the EgyptAir company.
EgyptAir is the flag carrier airline of Egypt based at Cairo International Airport, its main hub, operates scheduled passenger and freight services to more than 75 destinations in the world.
During a press conference, Fathy said the meeting reviewed plans for the development of the company and deals for new aircrafts, which is near the first phase of its completion through the purchase of nine new planes.
Egypt has already received eight of the nine-part fleet and will receive the ninth next year.
Fathy added that the second phase, to modernize EgyptAir, will include the purchase of 45 aircraft, and will be implemented in two stages. The EgyptAir purchase deal will be the largest in its company history, with the goals to reduce operation costs, restore the company’s position and achieve profitability.

The airports will also be involved in the World Youth Forum in Sharm el-Sheikh. The aviation minister said that preparations at the airport are at the highest level for the global event, pointing out that the ministry has equipped the reception counters and a customer service center within the conference halls to serve the forum guests.
