2019 Mustang Bullitt, log car, hot tub on wheels: Barrett-Jackson auction highlights

The first-built model of the commemorative-edition 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt sold for $300,000 for charity to highlight the incredible parade of automotive artistry on auction during the final days of Barrett-Jackson’s auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., which wrapped up Sunday.

The 2019 Mustang Bullitt, which made its debut last week at the Detroit Auto Show, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 1968 model of the car driven by Steve McQueen in the film “Bullitt” of the same year. Proceeds benefit Boys Republic, a California school for troubled kids that McQueen attended.

The auction also hosted a U.S. president for the first time in its 47-year history when former President George W. Bush dropped by the block along with comedian and car enthusiast Jay Leno. They helped auction a 2018 Chevrolet Carbon 65 Edition Corvette, for the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Military Service Initiative, which helps post-9/11 veterans and their families transition to civilian life. General Motors donated the car, one of just 650 built, and it sold for $1.4 million.
